About Tobias
Biography
Hello, I’m Tobias, an Experience Designer from Sydney, Australia. I am a curious thinker who identifies unique patterns and connections to inform human-centred design. I’m passionate about designing great products, leading agile teams to success, and putting the user at the heart of everything I do. I believe design is an endlessly empathetic exercise in creative problem-solving, and I’m inspired to find the best solutions.
Since the age of 11, I have operated as a Freelance Designer, creating bespoke websites and digital campaigns that drive conversion for corporate and non-profit clients. My work has cultivated long-standing relationships, some lasting over a decade. This experience continues to be an integral part of my professional career, and I actively seek new freelance opportunities to expand my creative horizons.
At Woolworths Group, I’m leading the strategic design of Me@Woolies, a personalised on-device experience for over 130,000 team members across 1,000+ stores. This initiative rationalises more than 70 legacy apps and tools into a single intuitive, scalable and accessible product. Previously, as a Senior Experience Designer, I designed UX enhancements that improved online order fulfilment’s “Pick Rate” by 7.5% year-over-year and enabled way-finding maps projected to unlock $6M in annual cost savings. I also secured budget for new designers by successfully evangelising pragmatic design thinking and the value of design craft to senior leaders.
Prior to Woolworths, I worked at Deloitte Digital on large-scale digital transformation projects. I led multi-disciplinary teams of designers, analysts, testers and developers, managing clients and stakeholders with ease. One notable project involved leading the design for a program that delivered $2.1M in net benefits in its second year by streamlining over 300 siloed processes into 26 unique requests.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Information Technology from the University of Technology in Sydney. A significant amount of my schooling and early career was dedicated to establishing the now internationally-recognised Audio Visual (AV) program at Knox Grammar School, which mentors students in exploring their passion for AV and realising their talents. Through this, I realised my own passion for experience design. As an avid theatregoer, I often consider the intersections of UX design for both digital products and the immersive design of physical experiences.
I am confident in my ability to bring a great amount of skill, experience and enthusiasm to any team.
