Building Awareness: Interactive Asbestos Safety Mini-Sites

Working as a freelance designer and developer, I helped the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency (ASEA) bring their asbestos safety resources to life online. This project involved the design and development of interactive mini-sites, making critical safety information more accessible and engaging for different target audiences.

Challenge

ASSEA’s print brochures, designed by Ident, needed to be adapted for a digital platform while maintaining brand consistency and improving user engagement. The goal was to improve understanding and knowledge of safe asbestos management, removal, and disposal.

Solution

I partnered with Ident to create interactive mini-sites mirroring the print brochure design. The digital format enabled engaging elements, making the information more accessible and digestible. The project launched with pilot mini-sites for Construction Workers and Homeowners.

My Role and Approach

As a freelance contractor, I handled end-to-end design and development:

  • Collaborated with Ident to maintain visual consistency.
  • Focused on user-centric design for easy navigation and comprehension.
  • Developed responsive and accessible mini-sites.
  • Managed the pilot launch and feedback collection.

Impact

The mini-sites offer ASSEA a valuable educational tool:

  • Increased accessibility to vital information.
  • Enhanced engagement and improved learning outcomes.
  • Consistent messaging across platforms.
  • Scalable solution for future expansion to other personas (Plumbers, Electricians).
